So yesterday afternoon my charges and i were returning from an appointment in a city a few miles over from where they live. There is a park at the halfway point that they love because of all the rock climbing walls and different types of monkey bars and other climbing activities. So i had packed food etc and we stopped there.
We were about to leave and a guy had something like a brick and was raising it in the air and as i screamed from across the way he shattered my front passenger window looked around to see who screamed and grabbed my purse from the floorboard under my passenger seat. He must’ve seen the strap sticking out but i have really dark tint so i honestly don’t know how he saw that before. He cut his arm really bad and fled with th my bag. Thank goodness he was in such a hurry he left my actual wallet in the middle console and my iPad on the seat. He probably didn’t notice the iPad because it’s in a black case. Glass went all over the place and I swear I felt like i was above watching it all happen. I regret even screaming because the eye contact terrified me and he could’ve hurt us. I usually put my things in the trunk but will make sure to do so every time now. I immediately called the police then called my mb. I knew there was no way I could drive them in my car because glass was covering every surface and their seats. After I finished with the cops mb showed up a little later. She ran to me and hugged me and told me to come back to the house so that she could help me cover the broken window. Once there I covered it and she gave me the keys to her husbands car, her debit card and $40 cash. She told me to take the car (he’s traveling for business until Friday) and the money and card in case I need anything. I kept telling her i was fine and she refused to let me leave empty handed or to drive with a garbage bag ducktaped to my door. These people are angels and I hope everyone else has good people like this in their corner. She worked from home this morning so i could get replacement cards and deal with insurance. She called me later to tell me that they decided to give me my Christmas bonus early to help me out because of the unexpected things happening. Everyone have a blessed day and remember to be a blessing to others no matter how large or small the act is. |
| Thank God you are okay. What a blessing you must be to each other. Thank you for sharing. |
Thank you reading all of that. I didn’t realize how much I’d typed. But i see so many complaints i had to share! Enjoy your day! |
| I am so happy that all are all right. Your employers did what any decent, caring People should do. |
| Very nice of your employers and so good you and your charges were not hurt. But you left your wallet, iPad and purse all visible in the car when you were at the park? Please don’t do that again. If it’s visible, there’s a high potential to get stolen. |
| Why on earth would you leave your valuables out in the open like that?? |
There's always 1 asshole |
hahahaa i was thinking the exact same thing. Leave your purse and iPad at home. Keep a SMALL card holder with credit card and ID in your pocket. Remove temptation and opportunity. That said, I’m glad you’re OK and your family sounds great. |
| Thank you for sharing all of this. The fact that you have such a good employer gives me tears of joy. Bless you all! |
| How are the children?! |
|
My boss would probably ask the robbers to take me with them.
Jokes aside I am glad you are ok and that you have good bosses |
| Scary experience for you all. Glad your MB was so caring. Too bad we have to worry about crime. |
|
Thank you for sharing your story OP.
Scary, but am relieved + grateful that both you and the children were unscathed. Sorry about your car though. Your MomBoss sounds wonderful!

I feel like I missed something... How are the kids? They must have been terrified. |
Op here and no i would ask the same question. We use the iPad and some of our classes so it’s with us all the time. I use a family bag for trips and my wallet and the iPad had slipped out of an open compartment before we got out. Otherwise those things are usually with me and the kids. I normally don’t even carry my purse but if I happen to it’s put in the trunk or pushed under my seat but some of the strap must’ve been showing still, I suppose. I’m just so blessed that they didn’t pay attention to anything other than my bag. To those asking, my charges are great and found it all to be very exciting. They were more into seeing the police and disappointed my car didn’t need to be towed so they could watch a truck lol. Boys being boys. |
