I am a nanny with a wonderful job. I have been with my charge since her birth and truly love my MB and DB. I am respected and well- paid. However my only complaint is a big one for me and is making me consider looking for another position...
I have to ask my employers for my pay check on the first of every month and remind them of my anniversaries ( for benefit and pay changes as outlined in our contract). I hate ie |

Perhaps you can arrange for a direct deposit in your checking account each month.
I agree....It would be SUPER awkward to have to ask for your money every month. |

This is good advice.
The fondness with which i remember past jobs directly correlates to how proactive they were in paying me. I loathed having to remind people it was my payday. I deeply appreciated employers who had my check waiting for me. |

| The worst were the "how much do we owe you?" people when I was new to nannying. We agreed on a rate, so are you not keeping track of how often I'm working?? Do the math and don't try to make me feel bad about the money I earned. Those people invariably had a, "wow, that much?" or some variation waiting to go. |

| Agree with everything that's been said here. My favorite are the families that use the cash app and send money that way. It's immediate. If they forget you can send a request for money. Talk to your boss about that and it sucks but on the morning of payday or the evening before or whatever just send a text with a reminder and dollar amount. |

Then they must be using the First National Pink Piggy Bank of America! Every bank offers automatic payments. If I had to ask for my paycheck. I would find a new job. |

My fellow nannies,
This is why we ask questions during the interview process. During the final interview ask question like: Will you be offering direct deposit? What payroll company (if any) will you be using? Based upon their answers you should be able to tell if they are prepared to be employers. |

Not true. Most banks require you to have a business account to do direct deposit to another bank. It's pricey. OP, why don't you ask them about sending them an invoice each week? |

Their bank aside most payroll companies also help set up direct deposit, they will also send and emailed pay stub

| OP here. I do send them a detailed invoice the last week of every month(I am paid monthly). The invoice then goes to the bookkeeper who calculates withholdings and deducts taxes and gives my employers the net amount figure... And then I have to ask for it. Now I am also owed a week's additional pay for a vacation week I didn't take and I have mentioned it twice and still no check in my hand. Really pisses me off and saddens me as they are perfect employers aside from this. |
