I’m due with my 2nd child in April 2017 and after a difficult experience with my first and severe sleep deprivation, am considering a ‘night nanny’ or ‘night nurse’ or whatever the correct term is and hire someone come to my home 3-4 nights a week and help feed the baby, change him and settle him back to bed so that my husband and I can get some much-needed rest at least a few nights a week.
Can anyone recommend someone that can do the above? And, most importantly, what costs are associated? This is an important factor for us as we weigh our options. Ideally, we would like to have someone 3-4 nights/week starting when the baby is 6 weeks old. I’d prefer not to start before then, I will be breast feeding the first 6 weeks and keeping the baby in a bassinet in my room. However at 6 weeks, my hope is to move him into his crib in his own room and have someone come in, and bottle feed the baby (with formula or pumped breastmilk), change him and hopefully get him into a sleep schedule that we can follow on the nights where it’s just us. Ideally looking to pay $20/hour for 4 nights/week (M,T,W,Th) or $25/hour for 3 nights/week (M,T,W) from 10pm-6am. |

Hi, we have had the same night nanny for two of our children. She worked with us for 3-4 months. We paid her $650 a week for 3-4 days. Call me if you need her contact info.

NP here. Could you tell me a little about your certifications and path to that you took to become a newborn care specialist? I am a nanny and looking to venture into newborn care. I'm considering a course from Nancy Hamm or Katie (can't remember her last name off the top of my head). Both courses are NCSA accredited and offer a base level certification. I'd love to here about your process! |
| Np, please email at the above address. I do not care to answer those questions on a public forum! Thanks. |

Erica Lee was a fantastic night nanny for my boy/girl twins. I recently recommended her to a friend who just had girl/girl twins and she has been working with her the past two weeks. She is flexible, laid back, and very knowledgeable about twin care! She charges around $20/hr and did laundry and dishes for the entire family in between bottle feedings.
I'm sure you have already found someone, but I wanted to put her information out for anyone who might run across this thread. She can be reached at 516-644-1595, or EricaELee@yahoo.com |
