Nanny no show - should we call police? Should we find a new nanny? RSS feed

For the most part we really like our nanny. Great with the kid and is flexible with us in terms of hours or if we need to work late. She has been with us for almost 2 years. In that time she has been late by a few min every once and a while. She has overslept once and I didn't hear from her until 10am. Another time she had a medical emergency and went to hospital in the middle of the night. She said she was unable to reach us since her phone died. I didn't hear from her until 1pm that day. Today she didn't show up and we have heard nothing. In all cases we text and call. Even though it has happened before it is very unusual. She is usually very prompt and loves our kid.

Do we call to report her missing? If so when do we do that? We have reached out to a family member and a friend who also have not heard from her. I am obviously hoping everything is ends up ok and assuming it is do we let her her go? I have to trust that she is going to show up so that I can get to work. I think our kid would be really upset if she was not working for us anymore. He is really attached to her.

Thoughts?

If you've been in touch with a family member, I would let them handle reporting her missing. You can only do so after a certain amount of time passes. Maybe check in another day with the family member and see if there is any news. But I would start planning to replace her. She sounds unreliable in general.

OP: Not my post. I am more worried about her than anything right now.

OP, I would say give it 48 hours and then if you won't have heard from her with a good reason why she didn't show it is time to start looking not unless she was kidnapped.

Bingo. Op is most definitely a troll.

Do you know where she lives? Go to her house and see if she's there, if her car is there and she doesn't answer the door I might call the Police.

I would leave calling the police to her family members.

I highly doubt that she has been kidnapped by Martians & sent to another planet. Or that she is laying in some shallow grave either.

I think she is just being irresponsible + that it definitely is time to find someone else more dependable and responsible.

IMO you already crossed a line calling her family/friend.

Butt out, she is likely fine and ignoring you for a reason. Even if she is not, she has people in her life that AREN'T her employer to worry about that.

Yes, that's what I was thinking. Do you think it's worth trying to figure out if any others are hers and ask Jeff to check?

I had reported this troll. I most definitely recognize her, but admin didn't delete. Maybe she gets some kind of compensation for making up so much dumb stuff. It drives up traffic when there isn't enough. Beware.

She'll probably repost this post outing her, and get deleted.
