| I usually nanny children age 5-9 but I recently moved to an area with less nanny jobs. I have an interview with a family that has a really sweet 4 month old baby. I have worked with babies in the past but not as a full time nanny so I am curious what it is like. Do you get bored? What is your routine like? What is your favorite thing about nannying infants? What is your least favorite thing? Any tips? Thanks! |

My now nearly two month old charge had reflux so I had to hold him for nearly the entire day! Oddly, it bonded us and I missed holding him when he got better.
Constant narration is hard. But they do sleep a lot so you have time to get laundry, bottle washing, toy cleaning, etc done. hey are so sweet and innocent - no tantrums! I love my charge and have loved every stage of his life but honestly, I am looking forward to his new baby sister to be born to get my hands on a tiny one again. |

Sorry - I meant he was two months old when I started and is now two-years-old. |

Infant nanny here. Most days will depend on the age and tempermant. Younger babies tend to nap more and there were bouts of boredom, but I've also had my fair share of sleep regression, colicky babies, reflux, etc. I've had one AP baby that I held for all naps.
My current charge is 7 months. He is very happy and only fusses when hungry. Our current routine is 7:30am: Solids ( mom nursed at 6:30am wakeup) 8 - 8:30: Either a quick walk or light play ( he likes relaxed mornings) 9:30/10 - 11am: Nap 11:15am: Bottle and solids 11:45/12pm: Out to classes, park, library, etc. 2:00am - 3:30/4: Nap 3:45/4:15pm: Bottle 4:15/4:45: Walk or park. 6pm: Bath routine MB arrives home at 6:15/30 to feed and do bed routine. At 4 months he napped every 90 - 120 mins, we went for a daily walk, a free story time class 1-2 times a week, read books, worked on milestones, danced around to music, played with toys, etc. It can get repetitive but I love my days with my charge. Verbal interaction is key. I talk a lot to him during the day. You will be fine .
