IRS will enforce the penalty this year when you file your taxes - could be big fee. If you make $50k it's around $1000 or .02 percent of your gross income! This is not a tax covered by employers. Make sure you discuss this.

Whom should nannies discuss this with? Their employers?
Anonymous
sounds like a good reason not to file.

$1000 is still cheaper than shelling out $350 every month for some shit plan that still requires a $5000 deductible and copays.

Or more motivation to take cash under the table or partial cash to qualify for thr exception.

Agree...with the deductibles you are better off taking the penalties or working the system.

Agree. Obamacare sucks. What a joke.

Nannys should ask for health insurance or assistance as part of their contract. I split with my employers.

They supply health insuance, but it is unrealistic for them to pay my $3,000 deductible. I'd be better off them paying me the cash instrad, me paying the fine, and then paying out of pocket for any issues if they come up.

Obamacare is private insurance, Idiot. The ACA just forces you to get private insurance and has exchanges (all private) where you can enroll with other people for reduced rates.

We know that dumbass. The ACA jacked up premiums and jacked up deductibles. It fucking sucks.

I had private insurance before the law went into effect and it was $126 for a decent plan. Now it's $350 for a shitty plan. Needless to say I no longer have insurance.

The plural of nanny is nannies, not nannys or nanny's.

They need to either pay the premium directly to the insurer or reimburse you for your premium. They cannot give you cash and have it be nontaxable.

NO IT DID NOT. Christ, you are so stupid! Look at the rates before and after. You are dead wrong and clearly one of the freeloaders who never had healthcare insurance before.

I can't believe that you are young enough to be a nanny but old/stupid enough to watch Fox "news". You are truly a rare combination of stupid.

NP here.
My insurance went up. Since I am single and make so much money as a nanny (45,000) I do not qualify for subsidies.
