Hi all,
I am a nurse and a mom of two boys. I offer a unique service providing on-site CPR training in your home for you and/or your nanny. My goal is to make training simple and convenient. Small groups welcomed! Contact me for further details. 240-426-0130. |
| I would never hire a nanny or even casual sitter who was not trained in CPR. |
Through which organization are you certified as an instructor? |
| American Heart Association |
|
I've been a nanny for 25 years, I'm not CPR
trained. I've never been asked in an interview if I was, nor has it been an issue. |
I am the daughter of a EMS and a nurse and while some of our sitters have been "trained" many have not and none have been at my request. I think CPR training is a huge scam. It's a 6 hour class at best, and now they offer "hybrid" online classes that are only like 1 or 2 hours hands on and they charge a fortune. I wouldn't want some 22 year old freaking out trying to remember something she practiced once 9 months ago on my son if he is choking. I always tell them to call 911 and ONLY do what the operator asks you to do, otherwise wait for the ambulance. I don't need them pushing the food in further or breaking a rib. |
You and your employers are idiots. GET CERTIFIED. You are taking unnecessary risks with the loves of the children in your care. |
Nonsense. You can learn once how to dislodge a piece of food or start CPR and save a life. Look at the little boy who choked to death on a grape in DC just a few months ago. Your mother is giving BAD advice that no pediatrician would ever recommend. Of course call 911 but know what they are talking about by have taken a Red Cross class. |
Wow. Your parents are trained medical professionals. That qualifies you. I've used CPR on a 4 year old charge. I've also performed the Heimlich Maneuver twice (1 child, 1 adult). I learned both in a CPR class. I'd rather my kid have a broken rib than be dead. The first thing you are taught in a CPR class is to call 911. Don't spread such nonsense. |
|
My employers aren't idiots, nor are they
trained themselves. Let's hope that whom ever you hire is smart enough to dial 911. |
Yes, you are all idiots. Take a class and learn. It will not hurt any of you. Of course you will still call 911 as we all will but their instructions will not be foreign to you. Knowledge is power. |
| Time is of the essence in any medical emergency. Your actions in those few precious minutes can make a difference between life and death or even brain injury. |

I like this idea, unfortunately I don't think you would be willing to travel to the West Coast just for me!!
Good luck though.

| Op how much is the class. How long is it and what areas do you travel to ? |
