Background checks for undocumented nannies? RSS feed

Is that possible? Can you run a check from their country?
Anonymous
Yea, because an undocumented illegal worker with a record in Guatemala is gonna give you all the info you need to run a background check on her! HAH

Trust me, if you are hiring illegal, you probably don't even know the woman REAL name.

She could be a convicted child molester in her country and there is no way you would ever know.

Employers like you should be thrown in jail for hiring undocumented workers and endangering their children. But hey - it saves you a few bucks!

No, you can't get checks on immigrants.

Utterly SHAMEFUL how many parents don't care, as long as she's affordable (cheap, cheap).

Then it's on the news. Big surprise!

No. There is no way to run a background check or even verify their identity. And if they hurt your child, they can escape back to their country with no extradition. Look at that nanny who took off after giving her toddler charge a whole grape and then he choked to death on it right in front of her. She was gone within a day of his death.

Know that every parent who hires an undocumented nanny to care for their children thinks very little about the health and safety of their children.

Why would you want to hire an undocumented immigrant to care for your child?? So many risks.

My husband came here as an undocumented
person when he was seven. Sorry Donald Trump - not everyone is a rapist and criminal. I'm just asking not because I'm planning to hire someone that's undocumented - I just brought it up as a "what if". Like what if someone came here and was working towards residency. It's not a simple process or cheap.

I was referred a nanny from a well off family who worked for this family for 9 years and they couldn't say enough. That's all. I truly wish more people understood more. I bet that documented nanny you are using - at some point was undocumented.

I would assume there's many educated people on here but the responses I've seen blow me away....

No, Dear, our nanny is an actual American and college graduate. Those you employ undocumented workers should be thrown in jail and fined for all back taxes - the action of hiring an undocumented nanny is ILLEGAL and the employers CRIMINAL no matter how you put it.

You are so wrong. If a nanny is here legally working toward her residency she is not undocumented.

Educated people, good parents and good citizens of this country do NOT hire undocumented nannies. Period.

Honest people do what it takes to get here legally, just like my family did. LONG, HARD work and patience. Certain countries have a much harder time than the Central and South American countries. That was my family.

Your not going to get residency as an illegal with no documentation. Those people you are thinking of are here legally trying to live and contribute for a decade without breaking the law everyday they wake up and go to work.

Your husband's parents broke US law by entering the US illegally and they and their children should have been deported.

They would have been killed had they stayed in their country. And my husband the undocumented immigrant - attended college (with no financial support), obtained his masters and now works for our school system supporting families and kids in their education. Please tell me where I could send the bill for his social service... (And yes, he's paid taxes ever since he had a job).
