Child damaged nanny's car window

| My teenager damaged the window on my nanny's car. Supposedly it still worked but the auto up didn't. The nanny replaced it and the repair was over $1600. If it were my car then i probably wouldn't have done it. Should i reimburse her - all, part? |

It is not your car. You are in no position to dictate what the actual owner of the car should or shouldn't fix. Of course you should pay for damage inflicted on her property by your child! Why is this even a question? |

If your child broke it, then as her parent you are obligated to pay for the damage.
The price seems a bit high however. I would ask the nanny if she can show you the estimate/bill plus any receipts to show she paid out of pocket vs. her insurance. |

This. This is why we have a nanny car. If my kid breaks or damages something, I get to decide how much effort to put into getting it repaired cheaply or decide not to repair it at all. If he/she damages someone else's car, all I get to do is ask for a receipt and write a check. On the other hand $1600 is still less than the cost of an extra car. |
