Summer at the beach RSS feed

I'm moving to my NF's beach house for the summer. MB&DB's of the world, do I need to wear a rash guard/one piece all summer around them and the kids? Typically I would wear a bikini - nothing too revealing, but a two piece nonetheless.

I'm a nanny, I would wear a tankini

I always wear a modest tankini when with the kids. It's still cute but not so revealing.

Yes. Little kids pull down bikini tops. Middle aged men ogle you. Is that what you want?

Tankini or one Piece is what is professional. Bikini is just not.

As fine as a miniskirt. No, not for work.

Why should you hide your body? Ridiculous.

Nanny Family
Mom Boss
Dad Boss

I vote that bikini is fine. If you're concerned, have both. Tankini when you're with the kids, bikini for when you get to be off by yourself.

I've never done a summer at the beach, but have taken charges to the pool all summer long. Professionalism aside, a bikini is just not practical! I am on the well-endowed side but regardless, picking up babies and toddlers in the water, catching them at the end of the slide, encountering waves in the ocean, bending over to build a sand castle, and trucking bags/umbrellas/toys/etc to and from the beach...I'd rather just have the coverage. I wear a cute, pin-up style one piece and everyone is happy.

I wouldn't wear a bikini...Not that there is anything theoretically wrong in doing so, just because I wouldn't want to rub anyone the wrong way.

Mom may not feel comfortable and Dad my get too comfortable.

If you get my drift....

I live in a rash-guard or t-shirt over my bikini. A bikini top is just not practical when bending over to pick up a little one and even most one-piece suits are cut too low on the top.

This! If my nanny showed up in a bikini to take the kids to the beach, I would wonder what exactly she thought she was going to be doing there.

Nanny here. You are working even though you're on the beach. Thus wear appropriate clothing for work. In this case, the consensus seems to be that a one piece, tankini, or t-shirt over your bikini is the appropriate attire. Good for you for thinking about it and asking for opinions.
