| Has anyone seen ever seen this nanny? I hear that there is one nanny in the country who does not text or look at her phone EVER when she is working... |
| She's the one who has no phone. Lol. |
| Yes, I too have heard of this mythical creature but have never seen her! |
| No such nanny exist. The young, white or middle-aged hispanic nanny texting furiously while she should be watching your children is all that exists. |
| Oh my god, shut up. If you're a mother, go look after your spawn yourself. If you're a nanny, here's your gold star, you're special and the best. |

Here I am! I never text or speak to anyone other than my employers when I am working. And I mean NEVER.
I can be seen in NW DC. I hear there is one other nanny like me in Los Angeles who used to post here. |
| We can see from nanny cams that our manny doesn't spend time on his phone in our house, and from taking the kids out on weekends or random days off and running into people who know the kids, we hear he's always super attentive and playing with them at playgrounds and not sitting on a bench on his phone. So from that I assume he's not spending much time on it. |
| Unrelated to the post above me, I am also a male and never on my phone. I usually set my phone and keys on a table by the door just to get them out of my pocket. I sometimes briefly check while passing by just to see if anything important has come in, but that takes all of 2 seconds so read the notifications. |

I rarely text unless the kids are happy and playing.. my days are VERY busy but I do spend time on the phone at the park where all my charges are happily playing or while I'm making lunch and the kids are in the playroom...and its always my mom or sister who understand my job and have met my mb. Honestly MB doesn't care... i get all my jobs done and more and the kids are always well cared for & happy

I don't use my cellphone unless I am taking pics of the baby. I do use it while she naps but never when she is awake. Same as previous families. I am very active with my charge inside and outdoors.
I remember when I was with my last charge. A group of moms were surprised when they found out I was a nanny. They all said they thought I was a young mother because I was so interactive, affectionate, and involved. They were telling me how they can see who are nannies by being on their phone the whole time but I broke the mold. Two of the moms tried to poach me on different occasions. I declined, of course, but it was a great compliment. |

I wouldn't want that nanny caring for my child if she does in fact exist.
I want my nanny to have a portable cellular telephone on her since I do not have a landline in my home and I need a way to contact her either via text message or phone call in case of an emergency or if I have a question about something. And a big plus is when she surprises me with an adorable picture of my sweet child smiling and enjoying his day with her. Signed, ~A Mom Boss in 2015 |
The above nanny does have a cell phone - she said if she is ever talking or texting it is to her employers. And no one else. I would LOVE to hire that nanny!!! |
|
Only a dcum-addicted nanny would sign things "mom boss" when harping about the non-point of everyone needing to have a cell phone.
The point is not to be texting, browsing, emailing, talking on your cell phone so much when you are supposed to be engaged with your charges. |
I think a nanny DOES need a cell phone. I also think a nanny needs to use that phone ONLY to talk to parents or for emergencies. I find it very hard to believe that every nanny I see texting CONSTANTLY in the library, park or while pushing a stroller is texting the child's parents. |
100% agreed. This is what all parents should be happy with. Especially if the children are a little older my eyes do not need to be on them 24/7. And I doubt you go without texting at your job either, all the MBs and DBs. |
