| Putting out feelers for next school year: How many nannies would be interested in a position that ran September- June and followed a school schedule with winter and spring breaks off? |
| If you paid me for the time off, sure! I'm guessing that's not what you meant though. Unless the pay you're offering is high enough where I could balance my budget the rest of the year, I'd skip over a job like this. |
| Nope |
| Would the nanny work summers? |
Most nannies like jobs that pay a living wage. Are your feelers up to that? What's your range? |
|
OP, you are asking the wrong forum. Nannies here are mostly looking for FT work or PT work that pays them like a FT job with benefits.
Your best bet for finding the kind of nanny you are looking for is on college job boards and on neighborhood list servs. There are many college and grad students who would like your job. They just won't be found here. GL. |
OP, there ARE people that would take that job just not as many as the more long term jobs. I for example am doing exactly what you describe, because I work M-F until 2ish and then I PT nanny for a couple of older kids after school. I know I will have frequent weeks/days off and summer may or may not pan out but I don't rely on the bonus income to live. So, yes, you can find someone to do this job, just be prepared to look for a while. |
| You'll find someone, though your pool might not be as big. You might find a mom who works for a second income and has kids who would be home all summer so she'd want the summer off to avoid paying childcare costs herself. That might be a demographic to market to. |

I work for 2 teachers in a nanny share! It's fantasitc so far!
I get paid x amount 10 months and July and August I am Paid 50% but have the time off to work for other families!! It's so great because I can take the time off if needed as I would have enough u to pay bills but I can also make extra saving/spending money |

I think there are some nannies that would do it, all they would have to do is plan ahead financially for the vacations so they would have enough money to live off of for those times that they would not get paid.
I think it would be unfair for them to expect you to pay them for those weeks off. |
| OP here. Thanks for the feedback. I agree that a mom with older kids in school or a grad student would be ideal. Where would I look for this? To the PP who stated it would take a while, when would you start to look? TIA for all of the helpful comments thus far. |
