No offense, but i refuse to spend more money then I have to during a crisis. I am not taking advantage of an illegal immigrant, without me, they wouldn't have any job or way to feed their family.

Look, if your job an be done by someone cheaper, that means your skills are not competitive and you are trying to leverage an artificial supply/demand curve to support high prices.

No offense, but you’re a user. You’re also entitled, selfish, cheap and manipulative. If you want to claim you are helping an illegal immigrant feed their family by paying low wages then you are on a different level of privileged.

Any job can be done cheaper and cheap people always find the cheapest option. You can go to Mexico and get cheap Botox and plastic surgery. You can find the cheapest and crappiest lawyer to handle your divorce. You can find the cheapest and shadiest childcare.

Nanny prices aren’t high, you just cannot afford them. It’s a luxury that you seem to think you are entitled to receive.

There is no conversion; you pay the hourly rate she is currently receiving and deduct fed and state taxes to get net pay.

The question was about no longer breaking the law - at least the tax portion of it. Both the nanny and OP want to start paying taxes! Can’t anyone read?? Or does not being illegal mean you’re entitled to your own facts?

So it's ok to break some laws, but not others--and OP and her nanny are the ones who decide which laws are ok to break?

You guys should read pretty well. She is just asking a simple question. If the nanny and her wants to start paying taxes and want to do things how they should be; right way. That's great. This is the point. I feel bad for this Mom. She just wanted to hear your advice without Judgement.

You should stop making excuses for illegal behavior. Do you make excuses for all illegal behavior or only the illegal behavior you deem as minor? You can feel bad for people who knowingly and willingly break the law. Most people don’t. I would also expect you to also feel bad for drug dealers, murders, people with DUIs, etc.

Then the nanny should leave the country and come in legally and OP should hire someone who is a US citizen or can work in this country legally.
