Oh please, the homeless problem was stopping you before marijuana became legal. I’m also guessing you believe people who drink and take prescription drugs are losers too, correct?

I don’t have an issue with homeless people or people who drink alcohol *and don’t drive*. There are so many losers here in California smoking weed and taking edibles and driving. It’s a complete and total joke. Homeless people aren’t going to crash their car into me while impaired. I have N.A. issue with ANYONE who drinks nd uses drugs while driving. Clearly you’re a pot smoking loser so I guess you’re triggered.

+1.
I concur.

People who smoke weed are truly losers & I wouldn’t want my child in the company of a common loser.
I would continue my Nanny search.

Did either of you even read the post? It was cannabis oil. Reading is fundamental.

Mug yeah I’m really sure it was cannobis oil. Btw I have a bridge to sell you!

You have no idea what it was. Lots of people cook with cannabis and do edibles. Not everyone is actually smoking weed. If this nanny was actually smoking weed often OP would know it bc the smell is strong. Duh. So go back under your bridge troll.

Using esbibles also makes you a loser, fyi. I guess you should go back under your pot plant. Il go back under my bridge, away from losers using marijuana.

You have to be the most ignorant and misinformed person on this thread. The fact that you actually “take care of” and “teach” children is a problem. Your spelling and comprehension are pretty terrible too.

Sorry druggie my English isn’t perfect, I speak 5 languages and English is my 4th. How many do you speak? Anyone who uses drugs is a total loser and YOU are the one who shouldn’t be working with kids if you think it’s okay. Do these creative types and artists need to also drive after using their drugs? Or is that okay for their art? Give me a break.

Nope, but, I’m also not ignorant and proud about it. I’ve literally seen the homeless run into the street, pee on the street, shoot up actual drugs in broad daylight, approach people begging for money and so many other questionable behavior. So whatever your issues with marijuana are seem to be deep rooted and honestly, delusional. Carry on with the issues you continue to demonstrate. You’re doing fabulous sweetie.

The only person impressed with you is yourself. You can speak 100 languages but guess what, you are trying to write in English here. You want to be impressive, speak and write every language you claim properly. Instead you would rather sit here losing your sh*t over some issue you have imagined is dire. You clearly have no idea what real junkies and addicts look like.

Hi, I'm not the poster you might be yelling at. I'm the one that wrote a nicely worded post and I did mention creative people. Of course I don't think anyone should drink or do drugs and drive. I'm surprised you are yelling at me when I was nice and just attempting to explain that there are lots of non losers and decent folk that smoke or use edibles. It's ok to to learn about things outside your bubble or experience. It sucks that every one where you live is driving around drunk and high- must make getting around difficult. I don't know anyone that does those things, and I don't know any losers. I know incredibly talented, kind people. I've found in my life that usually people that paint groups in a wide swath with names like loser, or addict, or whatever, haven't sat down and talked to those that might live very different lives, or are generally really unhappy. I will not call you names, nor call you on your writing- I don't know you, and I don't do that. I do realize we live very different lives. Trust me, if you met some of the artists I know, or my friend with cancer, or anyone I know that uses pot occasionally, you might be forced to rethink things.

I'm also a huge proponent of medical marijuana. It saves lives.

You cannot control what someone does outside of work. I don’t see why any nanny would want to be controlled this way. I can just imagine the day to day working for that type of family.

I hate it when nannies misstate what people in corporate jobs face. YES employers can “control” what you do outside of work by requiring you to pass background checks.

I personally don’t care if my nanny uses cannabis products but it’s just not true that employers can’t make demands like that.

I hate it when people don’t know the difference between a background check and a drug test. And no, your employer cannot control what you do. They can request you don’t do drugs and inform you that they may have drug testing. However, it depends on the state laws and circumstances.

So you’re admitting that employers can control what employees do outside of work hours by conducting drug tests? Then I guess we have no disagreement.

It would not be a deal breaker at all for me. It’s no different than having a glass of wine. As long as she isn’t under the influence at work, I’m fine with it. And I have never even tried marijuana.

I think you need to do two things...look up the word control and learn to read.

Are nannies required to disclose all medical and recreational activities? So if your nanny drinks, she needs to let you know exactly how much each week? All medical issues disclosed, like her doctor records?

The attitudes here are amazing. I understand not wanting someone in childcare that is an addict, a drunk, or jas no discretion, but there is absolutely no difference between your wine or cocktail after work and an occasional joint to relax. Plus, most people that use oils and edibles are using them for pain, insomnia, etc. Alcohol is much more evil than any cannobis product, and I would rather hire a nanny that tokes up occasionally or uses edibles for medical reasons, than a drinker.

Marijuana is illegal by federal government. Some states allow it with a prescription. If your health issues are that severe to need it, both should be disclosed. No way would I allow someone to drive and care for my child who uses drugs. And, lies. An occasional drink is legal. Most people who use it are drug addicts. People like me with medical issues use legal prescriptions and legal drugs. Federal law still states it is illegal.

Idk what world you live in but most people using marijuana are not drug addicts. Also, it is legal in several states without a prescription. It is also legal to leave CA with edibles.

So bc alcohol is legal it’s fine for your nanny to be a drinker? Also, abusing and overdosing on prescription drugs is a major thing happening. So your nanny could be a drug addict addicted to prescription pills. But that’s fine right? Oh the flaws in your very ignorant and misinformed logic.

I don’t think anyone working with kids should have a positive drug test. Even if it legal with prescription in some states it is illegal with the federal law.

Yeah, you don’t know the laws in other states much less federal laws. It is common knowledge at this point that marijuana is very much legal without a prescription in certain states. Please do some actual research before you post. I mean, you don’t even have a basic understanding of how to use google and knowledge of federal or state laws. Should a person like you really be working with kids?

No proof. If her friend uses the oil, she chose to eat something that may have some in it. Or she smokes. Either way, it’s still illegal at a federal level. Some employers don’t care, others are sticklers. OP obviously falls more to the end of not wanting any drug use(r) anywhere near the children, and that is their prerogative.

Edibles and the like were made for folks with severe pain and issues eating and sleeping. Tons of people use the stuff recreationally, sure. But even more use it in place of high risk pharmaceutical drugs. I've personally known about half a dozen folks that were able to drop several drugs with side effects and just use medical marijuana.

I also know quite a few creatives that smoke to relax and focus on their art. They are harming no one, it is legal here, and on top of that, they are contributing to the world by creating art/music/etc.

If you drink at all, and live in a legal state, you have no horse in this race. I go to lots of parks and the issue I see isn't pot- it is opiate addiction- much of which was caused by this wonderful legal pharma painkillers we had. I think its best to focus on what is really harmful and what is pretty innocuous. Painting everyone as a loser when you don't know anyone dying of cancer or in hidden pain or disability just paints you as the loser. It's like saying, oh there are winks drinking on the street. All alcohol is bad.

I would never hire anyone that used any alcohol or drugs at work, of course. And just like the government can drug test, as well as any company, that is their choice in hiring. But the getting all bent out of shape about something that actually just makes most people relax and eat Cheetos- please.

Just my 2 cents.

I don’t use tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, caffeine, any illegal drugs or narcotics for more than 2 days. I don’t use any pain or other addictive medication if I can absolutely avoid it.

No, I don’t want to work in a house with anything that could hurt my charge. Guns and ammunition WILL be locked away in separate locations. Alcohol and all medications WILL be locked away and out of reach. Knives WILL be secured in a drawer with a child lock. Chemicals WILL be locked away.

I am NOT going to responsible for my charging getting hurt or dying due to preventable negligence. I can’t control what my employers do when I’m not with them; I can tell them how strongly I feel about the above, and that I will quit on the spot if I find any of the above. It’s in my contract, and I’ve never had someone hire me who had an issue with it.

The house (federal) passed MORE in November. Senate has not. Ergo, still illegal. Medical research with marijuana is still very difficult to get approved, due to status as an illegal drug. I’m quite aware of which states do and don’t allow it, and under what conditions. My tiny home town has FOUR businesses now dedicated to marijuana/cbd oil, while just about everything else is closing or has been gone for a while. Just because something is allowed at state level does NOT mean that it’s not still illegal at federal level. And pushing for legalization is not the same as it being legal now.
