Live-in curfew nightmare

OP, this is a valid reason for quitting. Do quit and collect unemployment while you look for another job. Check with your local labor office about how much time she must give you to move.

I'd be tempted to not come home at all a few nights. Just show up 10 minutes before work on Monday.

Op you can’t collect unemployment if you quit. Unemployment is for people laid off or let go due to no fault of their own. But please do look for a better position.

I worked for Unemployment and if you quit for a valid reason, you can collect unemployment. Furthermore, if you just quit and then work somewhere else for 30 days, you can collect. You have no idea what you are talking about!

I quit once because my boss locked me in the basement and wouldn’t let me out until he wanted too.. I didn’t get unemployment.

You need to revisit this *directly*. You’re an adult and you are going to have to have tough conversations. This is a great time to practice.

Today go to MB, and say “I wasn’t clear when I came to you to discuss your proposed curfew yesterday. Unfortunately, an 8pm curfew won’t work for me. I have plans that will keep me out many evenings. I am happy to work through any concerns you have together though. So please do let me know if you have concerns with late night noise or other issues and we can try to find solutions together.”

Find a new job and leave. You are not 16 and they are not your parents. My kid has a 10:00 pm curfew on weeknights and she's 16.

People love to lie and say they “worked for xyz” to win a debate online with strangers as if it makes you correct. Lol! She would not be able to collect unemployment. The employers can DENY the request and like I said if she quits they more than likely will. Stop trying to get people to abuse the system. She can search for another job, stay out as long as she wants and let them FIRE her and file for it or give them notice.

Curfew for their vehicle and a text to let them know to set the alarm by 10 if you won’t be home are reasonable.

If there was no curfew in your contract, she can't arbitrarily put one in now. She has no right to do this
