Anonymous wrote:Funny thing happened last week. Grandma came over to play with my four year old charge. He told her she was the puppy, and then proceed to tie a rope around her neck, with her help. She actually allowed him to pull her around on the floor! What do you all think about that?

I think it’s odd and something I wouldn’t do, but to each their own.

Why wouldn't you do it seeing it's part of playtime with the child?

Bc I don’t want a rope tied around my neck and to be dragged around on all fours. I would instead say “oh that sounds like fun but let’s do it with these toys instead so we can each have a puppy.” I would then show them how to make leashes on their stuffed animals and pretend we each had a puppy to drag around. I would ask what we should name them, where we are going to show off our new puppies, etc. You want a rope pulling around your neck more power to you. Like I said, to each their own.

Why would anyone tell a 4yr old kid "oh that sounds like fun!" to get a rope around your neck? Some of you are scary.

Did you even read the whole response you are replying to?

You're still scary.

You are clearly illiterate, which is sad if you are actually taking care of children. But I call troll.

+1. This was a bad game. What happens when he decides to play it with another child????

Good question.

This thread has been hijacked into discussing a strange grandmother and has nothing to do with OP’s vent!

Yeah, OP, as a nanny it is your job to play with your charges!

Poor Dear. I embarrassed you so you are trying to strike out at me. It makes you look more pathetic but hopefully, in your little mind, it made you feel better.

Barbs work best when they make sense, PP. Just a little advice.

NP. I have a different opinion about who looks pathetic.

But anyway, to recap, OP should not be a nanny and probably neither should weird doggie game with grandma poster. Just too much emotion and projection there to unpack.

Visiting grandparents are often eager to take demands from their little grandchildren.

I think it is clear you need to find another line of work, OP. You are not cut out to be a nanny.

Yes, it is true. OP shouldn’t be a nanny.
