I would not have gotten someone to help me fix it that quickly so I was appreciative for the gesture nevertheless. I have a lot of respect for this couple for taking responsibility even when it was not required of them.
To be honest I would not have thought of her differently if she had not insisted on fixing the mailbox. However, as a matter of principle, if I was to damage someone's mailbox or any other property I would pay for it.
So she had her husband come out and fix it and you still want money because of your "principles"?
This will not be a long relationship. I'd be surprised if you make it to the end of the year with her.
