Scrubs are appropriate work attire for nurses. Some nannies even where scrubs. Yoga pants aren't appropriate work attire unless you are a yoga or fitness instructor. As pp said you can get down and dirty in jeans, khakis, cords etc. I don't understand why so many nannies think yoga pants are the only way to function when caring for kids. Maybe it's because I started in preschools before switching to the role of nanny as opposed to starting as a nanny fresh out of high school . In the preschools I worked in yoga pants and similar attire ( sweat pants) were not allowed somehow we all manged to be down and involved with the kids. As for spit up that's why you bring a change of clothes. |
| Yoga pants and turtleneck? Sounds sexy! |
I'm a 45 year old former preschool teacher, Sweetie, with a husband, children and a home. You really need to get out more, PP. |
+1000. I'm tired of these trolls. |

I don't think it's weird to have a go-to outfit for work. In the cooler months I wear long sleeve t-shirts, skinny jeans, and flat boots. In warmer months I wear maxi skirts with tank tops and ballet flats. My hair is always pulled back in a clip. And I always have a scarf in my car that I can toss on to look a bit more "put together" if we're going to a class.
I love not having to think about what to wear to work, and I always look casual but put together. |
| I'm a nanny to a 2 1/2 year old and newborn and I literally wear black leggings, a long sweater (that covers my butt) and uggs to work every day. In the summer, I usually live in long maxi skirts, tank tops and flip flops. |
