I live in Chicago and have a "professional" job and I have been a nanny. We get feet of snow every winter. NEVER, in my adult life, have I felt entitled to have someone else clear a place on the street for me to park. I shovel myself, leave early enough to find parking because I KNOW it will be difficult, and shovel another spot if necessary.
OP and those who agree with her, you are just absurd. Grow up and stop making nannies look like entitled, whiny brats. |
I live in Chicago. These nannies are absurd, entitled brats. I go in to work with up to 4ft of snow. Parking is hard to fine where I live but guess what? I bring a shovel and find myself a past king space. I would never ask my employers to do so. Even if it were their driveway, I would do it myself or help if they insisted on clearing it themselves. You ( not all) nannies who are lazy and incompetent give us all bad names. |
| this is crazy. If we cleared a spot there would be no way it was still there within 5 minutes. Unless NF lives in burbs no way this is feasible. |
I had to shovel out my own STREET (thanks plows!) to get to work. I'm wondering what the reaction would have been if I had called the hospital and demanded that they send out a maintenance person to help my neighbors and I. |
| If my work space had no available parking, I'd go back home. I'm not shoveling nor am I going to walk a mile. |
| OP, how much snow did you get? |
How much did you get, pp? |
Employers who think employees should get out and shovel to park, are COMPLETELY nuts. |
I'm the OP. My comments did not derail this thread as much as some of the PPs did. You are not the moderator of this site and it is not up to you to decide what is a valid contribution. Please feel free to report whatever you want. |
I agree with you, OP. |
Where I live we currently have 2 plus feet on the ground an we are getting more. We aren't supposed to park on the streets . driveways are pretty icy, but I still park there. I'm the pp that said my MB an I switch cars every morning , an I bring a shovel. My employers had cleared a spot , but there is still so much snow it filled in so I still had to shovel. |
What city? |
