Nanny 1 was part time when we had one child. Stayed about a year (but took a three-month vacation in there) and left to pursue a job in her degree field.
Nanny 2 was with us for a year and a half, and then left to become a SAHM.
Nanny 3 come on board right after DC #3 was born, and was with us for a year until we moved out of state.
Nanny 4 just started with us in our new home state, and I'm hopeful she'll be able to stay on for awhile (we have one more child due soon).
This is why I like to know a tiny bit of family history with nannies. If I were applying to work for you only knowing you had 4 previous nannies would concern me, But having the reasons why they left it gives more perspective and I would feel comfortable with the number of nannies in this situation.
As a nanny I know the relationship doesn't last forever, but I try my best to avoid families that change nannies like they change underwear.
