So because of one little mistake, made outside of work hours, you ruin her life by also making her lose her job? You are a peach.
Oh please, I'm a nanny and I drive my charges. If I got a DUI I would expect to be let go. It's not one little mistake. Where's your common sense? Would you let your own children drive with someone who has been charged with DUI? The nanny family didn't ruin her life, the nanny ruined her own life.

Being charged with something means nothing. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? I'm glad I don't work for you, you are horrible.

You cannot be serious? You don't think a DUI is a big deal? It's even worse that she hid it..

Nanny 1 was part time when we had one child. Stayed about a year (but took a three-month vacation in there) and left to pursue a job in her degree field.

Nanny 2 was with us for a year and a half, and then left to become a SAHM.

Nanny 3 come on board right after DC #3 was born, and was with us for a year until we moved out of state.

Nanny 4 just started with us in our new home state, and I'm hopeful she'll be able to stay on for awhile (we have one more child due soon).

This is why I like to know a tiny bit of family history with nannies. If I were applying to work for you only knowing you had 4 previous nannies would concern me, But having the reasons why they left it gives more perspective and I would feel comfortable with the number of nannies in this situation.

As a nanny I know the relationship doesn't last forever, but I try my best to avoid families that change nannies like they change underwear.

You can be charged with a DUI and never had a drop of alcohol. You seem to have missed the point of innocent until proven guilty. Also you can have one drink and then take a nap in your car waiting for it to get out of your system and still get a DUI, you don't even need to be driving or have any intention of driving!

Point being you are judgemental and horrible.

I am my current family's third nanny in two years...makes me a little nervous at times.

We've had just 1 nanny for a bit over 3 yrs now.

I've had friends who have had just awful luck which has sometime accounted for a lot of turnover.

For us, a little over 3 years into having a nanny and we're on our third. The first was just a total flake and quit after 2 months. Second worked for us for just under 3 years, it worked out beautifully, and she left to take a non-nanny job. Third just started but I'm hoping will also be with us for years.

I've employed two: one for baby 1 and one for baby 2. Nanny #2 is stellar and awesome. If she drove I could see this relationship going on forever. That said, she is a "baby" specialist so she might not feel the same way.

PP with the DUI nanny here. There are specifics to the situation that made it a fireable offense without question. Think along the lines of it happening when it directlg affected my kids and our lives. Im choosing to remain as vague as possible so as not to let out identifying information.

Pp you don't need to justify anything. You can fire for any reason what so ever. Years ago I replaced a nanny who was fired for sending a young child to bed with miss matched pajamas.

I can't imagine any parent or any nanny with sense taking issue with a nanny being fired for DUI.

I have to assume that poster who criticised you is a troll.

You have no need to justify firing that nanny.
