Don't be an asshole, PP. You did not *fix* the quoted post for the poster. You changed her words to suit yourself. It's fine to disagree with someone, but to change someone's post and quote it is an underhanded and dirty move. Use your own words. (No, I'm not the poster whose words you changed.) It doesn't matter what OP ate. She took food she was told not to take, lied to her employers by not telling them, and expect everyone here to agree with her that her DB is wrong. Frankly, it's lucky she wasn't fired for lying. She apparently isn't trustworthy and the NF has no idea what else she has been sneaking. |
OP why didn't you just go to the store and get a sandwich? That's what I do when I forget a lunch or don't have time to make one. Pop into whole foods and hit the salad or deli bar, or find a subway, starbucks etc. |
I do not often forget my lunch, but it happens. There is no way I could work for a family that treated me this way over a sandwich. I often share my food with the children and don't think twice about it. I would certainly start looking for. A new job. |
I'm OP. I never lied by not telling them. I seriously never saw it to be a big deal. Yes, they pointed out snacks but MB did say help yourself to whatever you find. I figured that indicated anything in the fridge as well.
To the one who asked about picking up or ordering out. They have stated I am not to order any food and I am not allowed to take their child out anywhere yet. So those were out of the question. I already gave 2 weeks notice. DB was surprised and tried to retract saying he didn't say I couldn't have it. |
Wait...so now you were welcome to "whatever you find"??? What happened to chips and nuts, or was it leftovers and tea...OP, your story doesn't add up. Good thing you are quitting, these people need a competent, trustworthy nanny. And if you can't see how not telling them was, in essence, lying, you are going to keep encountering situations like this down the line. |
Wow. You really showed him. Now you will be out of a job and when potential employers check your latest reference, DB can say that you quit in a hissy fit after being corrected for not knowing that you should tell people when you take their belongings without asking. Good lick with that. |
I never, ever call troll, but you've worked for them for two months and are not allowed to take your charge out of the house? And you are not permitted to order food with your own money? Troll. |
Agree this is a troll. Her story changed every time with what she was allowed to eat. Either a troll or this really did happen and she wasn't expecting people to call her out on how she was wrong.
But more than likely a troll. |
I live in DC where these ppl are rich. They treat ppl like servants. |
Ok, now I KNOW you're a troll. |
What part of DC? Embassy Row? |
She keeps changing her story because she was trying to illicit sympathy, but she got none because she was in the wrong. |
Sorry, that should be solicit sympathy. My brain hasn't woken up yet. |
Buy your own bread, meat and cans of soda and leave it there. If your boss touch it, yell at him. Give him a taste of his own medicine. |
This. Clear it with them first, of course. I would do this with any family who didn't want me eating their food. Ask if you can have some space to keep things like bread, or whatever you would like for lunch/snacks. |
