Admit it. The point of your original post was to somehow undercut the nannies complaining about having to trek in the snow because you were in fact working as well. Someone called you on your hypocrisy. All of your supplemental details are convenient and I doubt they are true. Get off you high horse judging everyone else. Traveling to work sucked yesterday and today, and if you don't like hearing us vent about it, get the eff of the thread.

NP here. I have never said this on this board, but, seriously, you are being a bitch. You are also being ridiculous. Traveling today was pretty easy. Feds had a late start, schools were closed, metro was on time, and the roads were treated and cleared. There wasn't even serious snow.

I stayed overnight, because I work until 6 and start at 7 in the morning, so it didn't make sense for me to drive home (and I have no kids on my own)
I have a separate room at their house anyway, because once a week I work overnight.
My MB was so sweet - she stopped at the store on the way home and bought me food I could eat (I'm doing a cleanse for a few months), she cooked for me and she got me fuzzy slippers. She said my feet must be cold from shoveling snow while she was at work.
I loved sleeping in a bit today and not having to deal with the morning commute.

Clearly your situation is vastly different than most nannies...as you stated yourself you have a designated room. Most nannies have lives outside of their jobs and NEED to go home at the end of the day (to run their own errands, walk their dogs, do homework, clean their homes...etc). Staying overnight, for most nannies, is just absurd and a bit insulting. I doubt many MB/DB's are camping out in their offices to ensure that they are there on time the next day.

I have a life outside of my job too.
As I stated above, I have no kids on my own and I took my Mackbook and a few books with me so I could do my homework here.
I think I stayed overnight once or twice when I worked for my previous family as well. I was a live out position, but I worked 10 hours every day and the commute was one hour one way (probably double in the snow)

Nope she doesn't. She also seems to be under the impression that because her home is warm and cozy to her, and she enjoys being home with her kids, that her nanny is somehow less "at work" than she is. Your nanny had to trek home tonight too, and probably in the dark, cold, and wind, blowing fresh snow about and bad/arrogant DC drivers.

I am amazed once again at the negativity of some people on this forum. No need to always assume the worst. I am the MB who was working yesterday. No, our nanny did not have to go home in the cold and dark. My DH came home an hour earlier and gave her a ride home all the way from MD to VA drugging both of our kids with them. Today we picked her up at the metro so she does not have to deal with bus and walking in the cold and she is again at work in our sunny warm house. My employer (large office downtown DC) did not offer to pick me up at the metro. Walked a few blocks as usual in the cold. So, nannies, please stop whining about your employers not carrying about you

To the last commentator I just want to say that I did walk in DC yesterday in the dark getting home. It was a little cold and the wind was blowing in my face. I was actually enjoying myself though and it was not as dramatic and terrible as you make it sound. Just please stop the drama around the cold days!

There is no guest room in the house unfortunately. If one was available I would have stayed.

Sometimes people have different experiences than you, different tolerances for certain things like walking a mile in less than 20 degree weather in my not snow shoes to get to my employer's unshoveled steps, and pray to God I don't fall and break something because they will most assuredly fire me if I do. This thread was a vent. I'm not used to this weather, and I don't like it. That's what this thread was about. Not liking it. I believe you have a serious reading comprehension problem and an attitude issue. News flash, lots of people see things differently than you do. "They have different experiences than you and different tolerances for certain things." Walking a mile in this weather is enjoyable as I see it. Gives you an opportunity to shed some of your extra lbs. We are all entitled to our own opinions and to not sharing yours or not having sympathy for your vents. Please learn to deal with it instead of being rude to everyone and telling people to get off this thread.
