My 5 year old charge calls me a shortened version of my first name. It drives me insane, I have talked with him about how I don't like when he calls me that and that he needs to call me by my name, but he refuses and his mother thinks it's adorable. I have always gone by my first name and prefer that.

The point is the PP does not want to be called it, regardless what the shortened name may be, and her boss isn't backing her up. There are several shortened versions of my name that just make me cringe to hear, fortunately, all of my employers have asked what I would like to be called and then followed through. It's a simple issue of respect. She shouldn't simmer down.

a lot of families its been miss _____. however this family the little one calls me just by my first name. Ive been with her since she was 7 weeks and she knows my name well. I do laugh when people say to her Your mommy is calling you she says thats _____ not mommy. Smartest 18 month old ever.

My charges call me "Ooh Hoo". The oldest came up with it when he was 16 months old. They occasionally call me by my first name. I don't care to be called "Miss x", but that's just my own preference.
