Do nannies not get multiple offers? RSS feed

Even when posters ask, nannies never seem to be able to respond with comparative offers. It takes time for MBs to pick final candidates, interview everyone and call you back. Its not like these things all happen in one day.

Ummmm, yes. Been doing it many years, have always had multiple offers. Just like any job. What is the mystery?

Ummmm, no.

Nannies rarely receive multiple offers. Unlike other jobs, nannying is pretty simple. No education or licensing required.

There are many more nannies than jobs.

What are you talking about? What does ANY of that have to do with how nannies go about finding new positions, i.e. interviewing with multiple families and collecting multiple offers before deciding? (Answer: nothing.)

Ha! Have you seen all the posts on here with parents wondering what they're doing wrong, why they can't find/keep a good nanny? It's true there are a ton of nannies out there. There are however NOT a ton of nannies coming anywhere close to the ideal nanny most parents have in mind when they go about hiring one. The few nannies that fit this description have absolutely glowing references and loyal families who see to it that these nannies always have their pick of the best jobs. I recently decided to start looking for a new position because I had begun to feel unappreciated. It took me 5 days to find my new position and I had my pick of 3 jobs.
