| I guess the title says it all! I got asked this and was curious as to how everyone else would answer. |
|
If you're a professional, the correct answer is,
"It depends on the needs of the child." |
| I just like to watch tv, bounce the baby a bit, let her nap, maybe nap a bit myself and then let her crawl a bit, read a story, etc. |
She's being funny, y'all. |

My ideal nanny position is one child in my care since birth until about five years of age. For me the thrill of being a nanny is in teaching/helping a baby hit developmental milestones and acquire language - nothing is as amazing as the first word or the first step! After five, the child needs a chauffeur more than a teaching nanny.
I'm a nanny for a very smart and well-tempered 9 month old now (and have been since his birth) and I LOVE my job. |
+1 This is pretty much my ideal role as well except with twins instead of a single. I've always worked for families with twins and while I find it to sometimes be challenging to juggle the needs of two I also find it very rewarding. |

| I'd love to be a travel nanny. |
This what I do now for twins, pays great. Love my life. I figure I can do it for another 8-12 months before I they will start taking up a lot of my time and I'll try to find another family with a newborn. |
+2 I love starting from birth and being very involved from the get go. It's extremely frustrating to go into a new position with an older child, and that's just not my forte. I thought about becoming a NCS because I prefer the age, but I know I'd miss out on the other stages I also love. |
| I love what I have now and would love for it to continue. I have been the nanny to now two-year-old since his birth and would love to stay his nanny until he is old enough not to need a nanny as well as be the nanny his (hopefully) future siblings. |
| Working with Ó-3 in a nanny share, here in DC. I love the first three years because I love working with new parents and watching the kids grow into their personalities. |
