I just saw an ad of a law firm that says if you worked more than 40 hours and were not payed over time you can sue them even if you dont work there any more. Many parants hire nannies for more than 40 hours and pay the same rate, Its illegal what they are doing!!! So wake up nannies, do something about it, parents know the laws and still break it So next time you go to an interview ask if its over 40 you need to pay me overtime!!! |
| This is right. Thank you for posting. |
| Lemme guess...wake up and smell the coffee? |
| This has been posted over and over and over again. If anyone on DCUM isn't paying/getting OT it's not because they aren't aware of it. Please stop with these PSA, like suddenly someone is going to say "oh I had no idea I was supposed to get OT." |
You're the MB still doing it, huh? Oh no, I'm a nanny! Sure. |
No, I'm an MB with a nanny who works 35 hours/week so OT doesn't apply. We pay over the table and if she did work more than 40 hours we'd pay OT (it's in the contract). If I didn't pay OT your post wouldn't change my mind though. Your "wake up and smell the coffee" posts are just annoying to everyone. |
Your confusion is so cute. Am not your coffee poster. And you aren't everyone. |
My current employers - both first-time-parents and nanny employers - had no idea that I was due overtime after 40 hours. Luckily, I knew and could tell them. There is nothing at all wrong with posting what some may feel is obvious for the first time nanny and/or new nanny. |
Has to be!

LOL. Looks like someone called you out, PP. Good for them. For the OP, yes, you should be paid OT according to the law. It's good of you to remind all nannies of this. Thanks! |
Nice try sock puppet. No it's annoying and nobody cares. _ A nanny |
|
Not a sock puppet. Feel free to check with Jeff.
As for you, you showed your ugly here. Find another place to troll, bitter nanny. |
You're confused again, silly. It's the parents who write out the nanny's pay check, not the nanny. The parents are required to comply with the law. If they don't, they get sued. That simple. |
Looks like reading isn't your strong suit. It's good to remind nannies to look out for their rights and to ensure they are paid legally. If they look out for themselves and know the law, they won't be taken advantage of. Try to keep up. |
