I often hear about having a background check done on a Nanny?
What does a typical background check entail, how much do they typically cost and does anyone have a recommendation for a company that performs a check? |
Do you mind the nanny doing a background check on you? She should feel safe to. |
That's fine. |
While I agree that the nanny has the right to do this, you really are answering the OP's question with another question which is kind of strange. Anyway OP, I am not sure what state you are in. I live in CA and we have something called Trustline which is a registry that you can use to see if a prospective nanny has a criminal record. She is assigned a number and you can run that number through a database and see if anything turns up. We also have Livescan which is a Federal fingerprinting database system check as well. I do not know if all states have a similar system in place. I highly discourage you from using the background checks on Care.com and Sittercity.com They are cheap and not very thorough. Good luck. Hope this helps. |
I'm a nanny and I put myself through Livescan (I'm in CA but it is a federal program) so I could qualify to be a nanny to foster children. It's a fingerprint system so it cannot be fudged. Any background check that simply relies on checking a social security number is a waste of time and money in my opinion as anyone can fake a SS number. |
Used this service - it was a little over $100. http://nannyverify.com/ |
What's the best service to run a background check? Except the one mentioned above? |
