Hi there. Just wondering how much you would spend on a charges birthday present. I found this awesome kitchen set that I know he would absolutely go crazy for, only thing is, it's kind of expensive. I LOVE him though! Is this ok? Would you parents be bothered at all? Perhaps I am overthinking this. Thanks!

$10-20
As a MB, I would be very uncomfortable if you spent a lot on something for DD. Perhaps buy one component of it instead? No more than $15-$20 tops.
I usually spend between $50-100 per child but I love giving gifts and If I see something they would love than I buy it no matter the price. I don't think you should put a price on gift giving unless you're trying to spend more than you can afford. Don't go broke buying a gift, it always about the thought not the price. I just have expensive taste lol
I spend $30 or under and it's usually games, books, puzzles, art supplies, stuff like that. Kitchen sets are well above $75, I just don't think such a large gift should come from you.
I spend $20-$50 usually.
If you think he will love it, suggest it to the parents for them to buy. Or for grandparents to buy.
I usually spend between 30-40
Around $25
$20 or less. I don't think my employers would like if I bought something as big as a kitchen set.
As a nanny, I wouldn't buy anything. I've done this before and it was always awkward.
I used to spend a lot on my previous charges, but now I have started a new job and don't think this family would like it so much if I did so I spend about half the amount I normally do on the oldests birthday recently.

I wouldn't spend any more than thirty dollars.
Anything more and his parents may feel uncomfortable. However, it is up to you. If it is say...sixty dollars they may feel a lot uncomfortable. |

I've never seen a kitchen less than $60. Most are easily $80-150. That is crazy to spend that much!
Are you going to be on here come December, complaining that they didn't give you a big enough bonus after you spent all that money on a child's gift? |

The cost of a gift really doesn't matter to me. If I know my charge will love it, then I'll get it.... no skin off my back. So usually anywhere from $25-$100 or so.
I even give my bosses thoughtful gifts for the holidays (for Christmas I'm getting MB a photo cube for her office with pictures of my charge, and I'm getting DB a personalized water bottle with pictures of the kiddo since he's a personal trainer and uses these kinds of bottles all the time). Price isn't an object when I'm giving to the people I care about.
