My MB is a single mom of two great girls. On my days of she complains that she wishes that she could have a little help. I try to help out when I don't have plans. Often times (like today) my charges will go out to lunch with my boyfriend and I. Typically we just do something somewhat kid friendly like Cosi, or Panera. My boyfriend likes the girls but I think that all in all we are starting to be a little too close. Just the other day, he asked if we should skip our date night and take the girls out with us to Port Discovery so that MB could have alone time. We did that, and he spent the night but in the morning MB said she was "hoping that the girls could hang out with you guys for a bit". She told me that I had be "hiding away in my room for half the day anyway".
Yes MB give us some $ to do these outings, but other than that she does not pay me my hourly to "hang out" with the kids. I have alone time I have with the BF after the girls go to bed (when he spends the night, or I I go back to his place), but I feel like my off days are usually spent as work days.
I think that MB knows that my boyfriends loves kids and loves to hang out at parks and is very understanding of kids (he is a pediatrician), but to me I think she may see this and be taking advantage.
FWIW, my MB is planning to have more kids and I don't think that I want to "raise" anymore kids, we just got out of the "rebellious" toddler phase with the girls so going on outings is now semi enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I love my charges, but sometimes I want to go out with my boyfriend and do grown up things (paddel boating, going to a bar and having a few drinks, maybe going to the parkway and making out) without having to worry about the girls constantly... is this being entitled?
