Please (please!) don't reply with any commentary or explanation, I just want data if that's at all possible.

My question is - MB's, when thinking about your favorite nanny (if you've had more than one), would you have let her bring a friend who was visiting from out of town with her to work for a day? Nannies, have you ever asked your MB this?

A) I'm an MB and I would or did allow a nanny to bring her friend to work for a day
B) I'm an MB and I wouldn't allow it
C) I'm a nanny and my MB has allowed me to do this
D) I'm a nanny and my MB has not allowed this

And if it's never come up...nothing

A - but it depends on the situation and what their plan was. If we could arrange it, I'd rather her take the day off and enjoy her friend if she does not abuse her leave.

A, as long as they were prepared to stick pretty close to DD's usual schedule and activities.

This is hilarious. Are you 16 years old? You want to bring your friend along to work. You're scared that your employer will see this as unprofessional (BTW- it is unprofessional) so you post your poll for nannies to all come in and say they bring their friends to work. Your next plan is to print this out and show your MB with the tried and true teenage approach 'look everyone else is doing it, its not fair if I can't!'. You are of course forgetting the other tried and true approach where your MB will talk to other MBs and find out that their professional nannies do not bring their BFFs along to work with them.

One of the benefits of having a nanny is that your children are exposed to things they would not be in a daycare setting. My charges have met several of my friends and family members, we go to lunch, meet at the zoo and have play dates. The kids are ALWAYS my top priority and they get to meet new people all the time, it works for everyone. "Professional nannies" do what is in the best interest of the children in their car, this includes not keeping them in a bubble. OP, just ask your MB, if she has an ounce of common sense, she will realize that this will be in no detrimental to her children.
