I've been told by a few people that if we are ready to hire an AP/nanny I should try to find one from England because they have the best training. However others have told me nannies/AP from the Phillipines are very warm hearted.
What's your opinion on this? |
It depends on if you want someone who knows how to do her job, or someone who will follow your every request. You don't get both qualities in the same person.
When you have a person who is trained and experienced, what good is it, if it's not used? Professionals have standards. While parental whims should be considered, they do not override the real needs of the developing child. Hopefully, the parents support rather than hinder, what's best for the child. If, on the other hand, you want an obedient servant type of person to follow random demands, it's more intelligent to get a person with little training or experience. This person is more of a warm body who most likely will agree to scrub your toilets and then cook your family dinner. She will not, however, provide much of a strong foundation for your child's education. |
The best nannies come from under the bridge. Go away, Troll. |
Offended? So sorry. |
Germany I have heard |
2:06 has a bad attitude and chip on her shoulder. Good nannies have ample childcare knowledge, understand the importance of following parents instructions, see their role as making the over household run smoothly, and are loving.
There are some difference in skills by country but I think they are less about personality, attitude and work ethic. You can find someone with a snotty attitude like 2:06 from any country and someone with a warm heart from any country. Driving, swimming, and comfort with pets were the things that I found differed the most based on what was common or very uncommon in the home country. |
It's the person you hire, not their home country. |
I think the Brasilian is The best!!!
Their are lovelY people |
Felipino ,their think only in money. |
I've seen you post this at least once before and both times it's been fairly off-topic. What's your back story on why you're hung up on this point? |
IMO it's very much on topic. The British nannies know how to do their job and don't need to wait until you tell them what to do or how you want everything done. |
The crazy comma-abusing nanny is back. |
That sounds wonderful, but it doesn't mean you can't also expect them to follow directions at times. You keep drawing this either/or and I have t in my experience found that they are mutually exclusive (nor should they be). |
Both the Brits and the Filipinos respect child care as a legitimate profession that can provide women with good opportunity for personal and financial benefit, so you'll find some wonderful women from both countries who choose to do nanny work as a career rather than doing it temporarily while working toward someone else. Also, both Brits and Filipinos are generally fluent in English when they arrive in this country. Of course, that doesn't mean that all Brits and Filipinos make great nannies. |
If you've known at least a few nannies from each country, you know that their demeanor is very different. Everyone knows which country tends to have the more subservient women. |
