Nanny called in sick this morning. Apologized for the last minute notice but said she had been vomitting for the past few hours and could hardly move. I was unable to find backup care and had an important meeting today, so I couldn't take off. Nanny offered to pick (preteen) kids up from school & stay at our house for supervision purposes, but that she would most likely be in and out of the bathroom. So, she was technically at work, but was unable to do much of anything with my kids (ages 11 & 14 fwiw). She does not get paid sick days - just not part of our deal. Do I pay her as if today had been a normal work day for her? |
Is this a real question? |
Of course! Wow, you had to ask??? |
PP here,
Seriously this post pisses me off. OF COURSE YOU PAY HER HER NORMAL PAY. She did YOU the favor by coming into work. If anything you should pay her extra for helping your greedy a** |
Poster of *is this a real question |
Of course you pay her. She was present in your home.
You should thank your lucky stars that you have a nanny who was willing to pick your children up from school and stay with them so you could work. Why wouldn't you pay her? Your children are old enought to not need constant stimulation from a nanny. Give me a f***ing break. |
OP, you are a typical example of why some nannies get impatient with the selfishness among some MBs. |
Mb I think you should tell her what you are considering so she can see for herself that something is wrong with you and QUIT. |
OP* |
Who said you needed any brains to get a "nanny"? |
Please, please, please tell me this is a troll. If not, this is such unkind and draconian style domestic management. Your nanny is a human being and deserves to be treated at such, you had children and can occasionally be inconvenienced with caring for them. |
OP if you DONT pay her then there is no way this woman is going to stay. I have a feeling you're one of those 'MBs' who can't truly afford and appreciate nannies. |
Ofcorse you have to pay. |
I hope this is a troll too because I think it's horrible that OP would even consider not paying her nanny who was helping her out even though she was sick. BUT don't make this about MB couldn't be bothered to take care of her own children. She had a meeting she could absolutely NOT miss. I have a job where I can NOT call in sick at the last minute. If I did that I could lose MY job. Of course if my nanny was sick I wouldn't expect her to come in and if she did anyway I'd be SUPER appreciative and probably pay her extra for it. As I said, if this is true OP is a horrible person but she's horrible for considering not paying the nanny, NOT because she had to go to work. |
Why don't people have back-up plans? You know, you do someone a favor, they do you a favor? |
