Okay... I am totally fine to work with cameras. I haven't before but I really don't mind I totally get it. I am a stranger coming into your home to care for the most precious things in your life. You really want to be sure that your kids are getting the care they need and deserve.
I am starting a new job and while we were signing the contract I noticed they have a camera on the smoke detector. I'm fine with this but I feel like she isn't trusting of me. Inwould like if she would tell me she will be filming. Is that bad? How can I go about bringing this up. I feel like its sneaky and starting a relationship in a non trusting way can be hurtful. How can I bring this up. I want to bring this up |
You say: "I see you have a camera." |
If they wanted you to know, they'd have told you. Since they didn't tell you, they don't want you to know. If you bring it up, they'll just hide the camera better. I never do anything that I wouldn't do in front of the bosses (except in the bathroom where I have the expectation of privacy) so I don't care if they have a camera. I would not, and have not, said anything in your position.
I think you should get over yourself. In one paragraph you say you're fine with it, but in the very next make it clear you're not. What's the point of having a camera if you're going to tell someone about it. |
In every work place, they are required to inform you of the possibility of recording devices. |
Agree with PP who said to just mention it. "I see you have a camera, and I want you to know I'm completely comfortable with that, but I do ask that parents inform me of their locations and take care not to position any cameras in - or pointing towards - the bathroom." |
Heard about the Washington suburban nanny who found a secret camera pointing towards her bed? Unfortunately, not sure how that all ended. |
Is there any federal law about where cameras are located? |
Sounds like one that an alarm company installed - most people I know have never enabled it - ADT installs them |
What are the laws? |
They had a smoke alarm on the wall and another one on the shelf that had the black camera hole on it. it looked like it was turned on. I wasnt working today just signing contract... I am doubting myself now but I will check again |
Stop saying you don't have an issue with cameras, because clearly you do. |
My problem isnt with the camera.. I just want the employer to be honest and not feel like they need to hid it from me. |
I wouldn't mind if the family I nanny for has a camera but I would appreciate being told if there was one. |
What you need to confirm, is that they are legally required to inform you of the possibility of recording devices. How you feel does not matter, unless you deciede that you don't care for their dishonesty, and leave. |
My issue is where the camera's are, not if they have them.
Like the bathroom. Hopefully they don't, but you never know. Maybe MB/DB are pervs. |
