Dw is rude to our teen sitter

| Sitter is great, she is a junior in hs and she is great with our son. Every time I see her she is smiling and really sweet. Dw is sometimes really rude to her. She calls her "the nanny" which I think is dumb considering a. She is 17 and b. she comes here 4 hrs after school. She began acting like this after taking the sitter home (normally her parents pick her up) and she saw that their house is really big. I don't know why she expected the sitter's family to live in a one room shack. I really think she is jealous of this teenage girl! It is ridiculous, she says "did you see that bracelet.. It looks new.." And "she has the open heart necklace. How on earth did she afford that?" I notice that my wife often brags about things in front of our sitter. She will tell her how much we make per year, and the sitter retry much just smiles and nods like "why are you telling me". Also dw is just generally doing Thai hs to show off. My wife acts more like a teenager that's the sitter.. I know it sounds bad but I am more attracted to our sitter than to my wife because she (sitter) has more clas and refinement than my dw. |

| It sounds like DW has some insecurities that go way beyond this baby sitter. Are you able to speak candidly with her about your concerns without making her defensive? Maybe even just starting out by asking why the sitter's jewerly bothers her so much? Why she feels the need to tell the sitter about her income? These are questions she needs to think about. |

| I asked her and she said she is not jealous. Our sitter tells us (when we ask) where she got her jewelry from. She generally shops on eBay and buys everything for really good prices. The other day dw said to me that she is concerned that the sitter is doing something illegal bc of the things she buys and she knows how much we pay her. I honestly think she is completely ridiculous. I think the pp is right that dw is catching on. It is not that I don't love my wife, but seeing the way she treats the sitter is rough. Our sitter is so warm and caring, I feel that I am gravitating toward wanting her instead of my wife. |

Your wife is immature and insecure. You need to talk with her and tell her A. to pull herself together and stop this shit, and B. to stop telling people how much you earn and bragging.
I was a babysitter all through high school. I babysat for some people better off than my family, and some worse off. It never mattered to me - I just liked kids and liked babysitting for them. |
