I celebrate Christmas, my bosses are Jewish. Would it be offensive if I give a gift before my Christmas break or should I give the gift during Hanukkah? Do I have to buy 8(?) presents each day for MB and the kids? What would make a nice gift for MB? I'm clueless about Hanukkah and don't know. Thank in advance

I have worked for several Jewish families. We always exchanged gifts before Christmas break. Do not buy eight gifts, I think your employers would not expect you to...

I celebrate Xmas and worked for a Jewish family once.
I bought the kids one present for Hannukah (the last day) and another one for Xmas.
The parents got me a present for Xmas too

I would just buy them one present, and give it whenever you want, or ask the parents when they think it would be the best time. Communication is always a good idea.

Hanukah is before Christmas (it pretty much always is) so it'd be weird if you waited until it had ended and THEN gave them a gift (what, for Christmas? a holiday they don't celebrate?). You can google "when is Hanukah 2012" and the dates will pop up. You should NOT buy 8 presents. ONE present.

A nice gift for the mom would be ... well, how much are you looking to spend? Does she cook? Jewish holidays often involve a lot of frying foods in oil (for Hanukah, it's latkes) so I sometimes give an aloe plant, because aloe soothes burns.

You can give the MB anything as long as it's not Christmas-oriented.

Hanukkah is dec 8-16 this year, so why would you give the gifts after Christmas?

Give the noon a photo book our something related to the kids. I'd give when you want...midle of Chanukah, the last day. I always did 8 gifts for the kids but kept them small...matchbox cars, little golden books etc and made a scavenger hunt for them to find the gift after I left. I gave a bigger on the last night.

You CERTAINLY DO NOT need to give 8 gifts!!! lol. No. Give whenever. Would you be offended if a jewish person gave you a christmas gift during hanukkah? probably not. ;P

Buy one gift, wrap it in non- Christmas paper, attach a Happy Holidays card and give it to them on the day before you leave for Christmas.
