I celebrate Christmas, my bosses are Jewish. Would it be offensive if I give a gift before my Christmas break or should I give the gift during Hanukkah? Do I have to buy 8(?) presents each day for MB and the kids? What would make a nice gift for MB? I'm clueless about Hanukkah and don't know. Thank in advance
Hanukah is before Christmas (it pretty much always is) so it'd be weird if you waited until it had ended and THEN gave them a gift (what, for Christmas? a holiday they don't celebrate?). You can google "when is Hanukah 2012" and the dates will pop up. You should NOT buy 8 presents. ONE present. A nice gift for the mom would be ... well, how much are you looking to spend? Does she cook? Jewish holidays often involve a lot of frying foods in oil (for Hanukah, it's latkes) so I sometimes give an aloe plant, because aloe soothes burns. You can give the MB anything as long as it's not Christmas-oriented.
