The $15 per hour nanny

If the next sitter is shitty, they may be doing their own childcare for a while. Then how do they get to the office? Piggyback?

First, it doesn't take a fortune to employ a nanny.

Second, if you were to poll top earners with a question of "list top five reasons why you are making a fortune", the answer "to keep my nanny well-compensated and happy" would turn up approximately zero times. So it's ridiculous on the face of it to say that "wise parents are busy making a fortune to keep their nanny well-compensated". I'm afraid the nanny's compensation is not the reason they work. Or make a fortune.

A well paid top notch nanny is what enables you to go to work every day, and focus on your job 100% so you need not worry about the kids.

In all my years of being a nanny, I've never needed to call in sick. I do what I can to stay healthy. The families are always more than happy to buy all the organic food I want. Their investment pays off very well for them, and for me.

My amazing employer would give me a cut of her annual bonus every year. She was a lobbyist, it was majorly generous. She always told me she wouldn't be able to do her job without me there every day.

If you got another job and left your NF, I'm sure they would continue to go to work. They would just have to do it with a new nanny.

No one is indispensable.

My nanny does $15/hr x 50 hrs wk. = $750/ wk or $3000 per month. We pay taxes for her, she gets holiday, sick and and holiday pay netting Appx at least $36k yr. We pay per hr babysitting extra so she likely does $50k NET per year. It's the net that makes it a really higher wage than $15 hr. More like she's doing $25 hr not including all the OT. That's Hella better than a lot of jobs. All the nannies in my area alexandria make a net salary. Therefore ARE YOU kidding asking me your question OP? I think nannies have it awesome in N VA!

No, not everyone pays taxes for nannies. Most employers I know follow what happens in the real world - you get paid a gross salary, and everything else is your responsibility.

By the way, if you pay your nanny's taxes, that's income to her and she owes taxes on that.

She did exactly what she said. Since I was moving, she did her own childcare. She didn't want anyone else.
