If the next sitter is shitty, they may be doing their own childcare for a while. Then how do they get to the office? Piggyback? |

My amazing employer would give me a cut of her annual bonus every year. She was a lobbyist, it was majorly generous. She always told me she wouldn't be able to do her job without me there every day. |
Hopefully, she did mean that she wouldn't be able to do her job without you, specifically, but I doubt she meant that.
If you got another job and left your NF, I'm sure they would continue to go to work. They would just have to do it with a new nanny. No one is indispensable. |
signed, someone who has never had a great nanny. |
People who make fortunes don't have to report to the office every day. |
Cemeteries around the world are full of indispensable people. Some of them might even have been nannies. |
Can I buy some pot from you? |
My nanny does $15/hr x 50 hrs wk. = $750/ wk or $3000 per month. We pay taxes for her, she gets holiday, sick and and holiday pay netting Appx at least $36k yr. We pay per hr babysitting extra so she likely does $50k NET per year. It's the net that makes it a really higher wage than $15 hr. More like she's doing $25 hr not including all the OT. That's Hella better than a lot of jobs. All the nannies in my area alexandria make a net salary. Therefore ARE YOU kidding asking me your question OP? I think nannies have it awesome in N VA! |

I don't get why people think nannies make a poor living - to net $50k means you have a $70k job you all get this right? I thought everyone here pays tax for nannies no ? That's a huge difference in pay! |
No, not everyone pays taxes for nannies. Most employers I know follow what happens in the real world - you get paid a gross salary, and everything else is your responsibility. By the way, if you pay your nanny's taxes, that's income to her and she owes taxes on that. |
You're right. But they love their jobs, just as much as I love mine. |
One of my former MBs told me I was "irreplaceable", so when I decided to move, she said she'd be doing the fulltime childcare until preschool. Apparently, you don't have a clue how each mother feels about her nanny. |
What people say and what they do is two different things. That MB must have loved you, but if she had to replace you, she could and she would have. No one is indispensable. |
She did exactly what she said. Since I was moving, she did her own childcare. She didn't want anyone else. FYI, people of her caliber don't lie. Do you know anyone like that? |
