Disappointed with afternoon sitter RSS feed

I’m pissed. I organized the whole thing with her, but she went to DH who she knows wasn’t paying attention - this is sneaky. Also she could have called me at any time to say she was changing the schedule so we could get a back up plan. Instead she just left and our dog would have been alone. Aside from the fact that I’m on vacation in Hawaii I’m also disappointed with her. We’ve treated her really well and I hate people who are low integrity

OP here - so would anyone give her another chance or just move on? Thank you

I'd move on. She didn't do what she agreed. What if it is your kids next time?

That sucks and definitely doesn’t reflect well on her. I’d keep her but I’d also keep your guard up a bit that she might just flake out on you again sometime.

ETA I guess for me it would depend on how much you depend on her and how easily you could replace her. Finding an afternoon sitter to come 5 days a week is tough where I live and beggars can’t be choosers.

OP - ugh yes exactly it’s not an easy schedule to fill. Plus the school year is only two more months for us. On the other hand I really don’t trust her after this and I agree it’s only a matter of time before she’ll drop the ball with us for the kids pick up

Yes this is my inclination too unfortunately

We have found the unreliable house sitter here!

Drop her. You’ll figure it out for two months but it’s not worth the stress.

That’s terrible she left your dog. I’d trash her via reviews as well if you found her on a website.

I'm shocked you are even asking this. You'd have to hold me back from breaking her kneecaps.

Good luck finding another sitter for this undesirable shift (which many families want to hire for and very few people want to work) if you do this.

Are you always this absurdly melodramatic, or only on DCUM?

We got back, paid her, texted her to say good luck. She didn’t even respond!

There are so many college students who love this schedule and reliable income. We posted a listing last Wednesday, interviewed six over the weekend and had one start on Monday. She’s a student and an athlete and my kids love her

I know. Our dog is a golden retriever that thinks she’s a human. Poor thing would have been traumatized if she’d been alone for two days ugh
We got flowers and wine for our fabulous neighbors. They said our dog never left their sides which makes me concerned if the sitter was there at all
