I'm not the Pp. But You sound really upset. She said it's not about she is expecting any food from them. I understand she is saying, she has been provided and offered to eat at their employers house. This is something that nannies don't expect to have; but families are willing and very kind to offer without you asking. It's not about the money and also I think it's not about she can't afford her own food. She must be very lucky to have bosses like that and no blame her that she feels grateful for have work families like these.

"Why can pour yourself some tap water?" This seems to be coming from someone really -angry person. Don't be mad for other's happiness. Smile and have a wonderful day.

You must have serious issues. Please don't start trolling and start with negative comments. OP was just asking some advices about her new Nanny. Employers and nannies have all responded, everyone with their current and different situations. We know every single family is different. If OP is so nice with her Nanny, let her be. If she would like to buy her food as others families do with their nannies aswell. Don't complain about that.

If you are an employer; It's ok if you don't offer anything to your nanny and help herself with a cup of coffee. We understand that probably you can't afford it. But it's ok. Just take it easy.

I would be so embarassed to be paid for my lunch, as if I am a beggar.
Have some dignity, ladies! At $30 per hr on average for our work, most of us can afford our own food.

To PP. Of course, I believe every single nanny who posted about their situation, have lots of dignity. They do have it and also earn a good salary. This doesn't change the fact, that lots of families are Great employers. And nobody is asking for anything. It's just the nice gesture that come from these kind families; who want to make their nannies feel welcome and make them feel more comfortable and happy working for them. The offer these nice perks and I'm sure every nanny is so grateful about it. You totally forgot to read all postings; some families provide food and also nannies are happy to take their own lunch; both things. I'm guessing also they must be such nice employers paying, yes those $30 P/H that you are whining for.

And don't get mad like other PP. It you feel this way Hopefully, it's nobody 's fault. Hopefully someday you will have the bless to work for one families like them.

to PP - I am the nanny who thinks it is ridiculous to count on the employer for food - my family always says that I can take anything I like from the fridge but it does not mean I am going to do it, because: #1, food is expensive, and I know their money is not growing on a tree for them, #2, I am very particular about what i eat, and I never eat garbage from the restaurants, #3 many families are just embarassed to say no, and might secretly resent if nanny eats their favorite snack supplies, haha. This forum is full of such posts. So, I am better off eating my own stuff but you do you.

Another nanny here. I'm a nanny who I'm employed by a wonderful Family. Since the very first day, they opened the kitchen for me; to help myself with anything; without me "begging" like you or another poster are very angry. I have never had the need to beg anything to any employer. Thankfully I have always got paid pretty well for my hard work and experience. And I alwsys go above and beyond with every single family. Everything what I do, I'll do it with all my heart and no only because they are paying me. You like others.

I know, I'm very lucky and grateful for that and 1. I do love food from restaurants, which I pay with my own money and I don't think it's garbage. First learn to respect other's food and other's like. 2. If you are a particular eater, congratulations, you must look like a model, healthy, very toned and with a six pack. And 3. No, I don't think my current family it's embarrassing for being nice to me. And no, I don't need to eat their favorite snack supplies. That's Why, they ask me what I usually eat and what I would love to eat at their house; so they can get them for me and keep in the fridge and in a special spot for me. And yes, that's include lunch meat, my favorite snacks and even my sparkling water; which I really love for summer days. And I can say that there are also days when I prefer to bring my lunch; if I have something prepared from home to eat. I have always beong treated like a family member; maybe you don't. That's the difference Probably.

Cheers.
