Overnight rate for babysitter? RSS feed

If I'm doing an overnight it's either for a current nanny family or a previous one. I will set a fair rate but I'm not going to try and overcharge people I care deeply about.

because we are sleeping. I’m not going to charge $20 an hour when I’m
asleep. The flat rate covers the inconvenience of not being in my own bed. OP I would charge hourly until 11pm and again at 7am. $75 flat rate for the overnight part.

1. I charge the same for family (ones who ask repeatedly, not the one-offs I offer), friends and others.
2. I want to know what the situation is when I walk in, so I can plan accordingly.

If they tell me ahead of time that their children sleep through the night, they pay the overnight rate.
If they tell me ahead of time that I will be waking up, I charge my hourly rate.
If they tell me kids sleep through, then I’m up for something other than a child vomiting everywhere, I charge both.

I’m crystal clear on my policy, and nobody quibbles.

Hourly rate and OT after 40 hours. No discount for your kids sleeping through the night. The nanny is still sleeping with one foot on FLoor. She cannot leave house so she is on duty at all times.

Tough if it expensive.

Nannies/sitters STOP SCREWING YOURSELVES! charge what you are worth!!
