Keeping an au pair who we’re not likely to need? RSS feed

OP here. We’re with CCAP. After hearing everyone’s perspective, I think I’d like to give her the chance to move to a new family who could really use the help. But I’m willing to host her as long as needed, because she’s great. I don’t want to force an artificial timeline on her, like happens with rematch. Is this possible? How would we do this? Or is rematch so flexible right now that she could be in rematch indefinitely until she finds a good fit?

Totally possible. We're with CC and have talked to a couple of APs who are in rematch who have indicated that their host families will let them stay as long as they want basically. I think you just need to work with your LCC and the higher ups. You seem like a nice host family, hope your AP finds a similar family to move to!

We have 3.5 months remaining. We had been toying with the idea of leaving program. BP plans to extend, but wants a new family. We will now tell him he can start his extension year asap, and doesn't need to wait until the end of our year.

Ours left 3 months early and I am so glad. She was really nice but not that helpful with school aged kids and it’s nice to have our space back. If I had younger kids I probably would feel differently
