Would you recommend a weekend nanny who has proved herself to be unreliable? RSS feed

I would tell her honestly that I can’t predict when a job that she would be a good fit for will open up among my friend group and instead offer to write a nice letter of reference and serve as a reference for future jobs she finds leads on. Then I would write about all her good qualities and I would respond to questions about her reliability honestly while adding that I know she is ready to make a strong commitment to a weekend family.

You misunderstood. The OP asking the question is a nanny. Her friend, a daycare teacher, needs weekend babysitting hours. The friend was 30% unreliable in the past as a weekend babysitter but now needs the money for a family crisis. Should OP recommend her for another job?

No one is unduly emotional (except maybe you).

No I understood the question. My answer would still be no, you are unreliable. Why is this so hard?

Because she may want to change. People, especially young people, deserve a second chance. Especially if she is so great with children.

There is nothing hard about a flat no, PP. In fact it is easy. But a thoughtful person would take everything into consideration and perhaps find a better way.
