How to keep an Au Pair from leaving

No! I know someone that was told they were free on weekends but then changed the schedule on her. Kid goes to daycare from 7-2 she works an hour in the AM and from 2-7. No weekends off.

So she works Monday-Friday for an hour in the morning and then from 2pm-7pm, and the works all weekend as well? So she has NO days off? This would be volition and the AP should bring up with her LLC. The AP needs to speak up for themselves.

Also, I don’t know where you’re getting your extensive data, but our au pairs work nowhere near 45 hours per week most weeks and almost never work weekends.

Either you are a young person that obviously does not agree with the AP program at all, or you are a troll, I'm not sure which. You are wasting your time here being either. You are not going to get any HFs to stop using the program because you are telling us we are all terrible people. There are a lot of great host families and a lot of APs that love the program and have better lives because of it. I suggest you stop posting on this forum and make better use of you time.

My AP told me about a business class that she wanted to take. She sent me a link and 10 mins later she was all signed up and it was all paid for by me. I wish I could just point to something and have it all paid for by someone else.

This is totally illegal. They get 1 full day and 1 half day off per week and they get 1 weekend per month off. That's the rules.

I agree with the au pair program but I just don't agree with how families treat these kids. There are a lot of great families out there, don't get me wrong but also a lot of them use this program so they can pass on all of their parenting responsibilities to someone else. You need to be there for your kid as a parent. That time you spend with your kid will pay off dividends later on in life. The purpose of an au pair is to make your lives easier and NOT replace you as a parent. You should take your kids to the museum, teach them how to ride a bike and bond with them. These au pairs should only be used for menial tasks like waking up the kids, getting them ready for school and watching them when the parents are at work. Also having these kids clean your whole house and become your house slave is not the purpose of this program either. The focus is on the kids and not your coffee in the morning. Make your own coffee.

Every time you post it gets dumber and dumber. You aren’t an AP, have never had an AP and aren’t a parent. You have zero respect from anyone on here. I sincerely hope you really aren’t a nanny because I feel sorry for any family that has to put up with you. And for your information I made my APs coffee this morning get just she headed off for a fun weekend with her friends.

What you're describing is illegal. APs can't clean the house or make the HF's coffee.

Why are you posting here? Lots of people shouldn't do lots of illegal stuff. Maybe post about how you also shouldn't murder people or kick puppies, while you are at it.
