One thought, OP: do you know for sure she plans to get another nanny job immediately after this? I know that is the most likely scenario but if she had been thinking about a career change or taking a long vacation before job searching again or anything else, that could change what kind of help she would like from you. Maybe just double check that in your convo and adjust accordingly. |

Yes, I would still get it if I left the job early. They have helped me line up a new job and have said, if I need to leave earlier than planned they understand and would still give me my severance. I don’t believe they have used the term incorrectly. |

I agree with this post. I don't think 6 weeks notice is sufficient for a nanny who has been with you this long. It takes time to find a new nanny position. We gave our nanny of three years 3 months official notice but she knew that the kids would be going to school in the fall. We told her that if she stayed until the end of August we'd give her two weeks retention bonus. |
