$18-20 an hr for one child is my experience in Arlington, at least for nannies with 5+ years experience. I don't know anyone who pays $14-15.

I make $26/hour right outside of DC. I found my job through White House Nannies.

How many kids and what are your benefits?

$27 an hour plus full healthcare insurance and a leased car.

Two. Health insurance stipend, 10 days PTO plus 5 dick days and all major holidays off. Reimbursement for mileage at IRS rate. Mainly childcare with some household duties during down time.

Sick days! Not dick days!

Thanks. How many years experience do you have as a nanny? Would be helpful if folks would include years of experience when stating salary to have a reference point.

We have always paid about $20/hour for two kids in DC. I wouldn't pay more unless the person is able to tutor them or add additional value in another way.

DC $12.25 for sitter $14.00 for nanny.

That sounds low but more in line with what I share with mom friends (which tends to be $14-18 range). The anonymous postings on here are totally outrageous and fake news.

--San Francisco tops the list with an average babysitting rate of $14 per hour for one child, $16.75/hr for two children, and $19.25/hr for three children. For more reasonable rates, head to Denver, where the average pay starts at $10.25 per hour for one child.
How much do parents pay the nanny? Across the nation, nannies earn up to two more dollars an hour than babysitters.

--The national average for nanny pay is $13.50/hour for one child, $15.50 for two children, and $17.25 for three children.
Bringing back date night. A third of parents surveyed said they hire a babysitter 1-2 times a month for a date night, and an additional 32% said they go out at least 4-6 times a year.

Did you post this to make yourself feel better about being cheap?

It's not a fantasy; that's what I'm getting for two kids.

Ladies get out of nannying ASAP. With these rates, you will never be able to do anything in life worthwhile. $1 an hour raise/year is a joke. Child care industry is mainly women who will never bother to ask to be paid more so pay will always be low. Leave childcare behind; Advance your education or start a business period.

No, $14/hour is not the going rate for a nanny. That wasn't even the case 10 years ago. The average is $16-$22/hour. We are currently paying $21/hour, after one raise (started her at 20).

The above poster is right. Parents claiming $14/hr. are either lying or paying undocumented workers off the books. These employers will not show you any proof to support their claims of $14/hr.

Yep. Let these professional women enjoy raising their own kids when all the childcare workers say screw it and do literally anything else.
