Isn't the 4 year old in preschool at least a few mornings? And the one year old doesn't nap? That seems odd? Or he/she is not on a reliable schedule or what? We have three children: 4, 2.5 years, and 1 year and they all nap, with some considerable overlap so the nanny does have some downtime.

I am very tired at the end of the day and do worry about burn out. I collapse on weekends. I love my job, my employers and my charge’s and am well compensated. Will I get used to this new schedule? I have only been alone with the children since last week.

Get them on the same afternoon nap schedule.
Infant naps 3 times a day (9:30, 1:30, 4:30 short one) and 2.5-5 yo naps 1:30-3pm.

Other than that, this is what caring for 2-4 kids is like. Ever wonder how your mom did it?

Sounds like you got spoiled with Mom around on maternity leave and now your actual job begins.

Give it a month to get a routine. Summers are always different from the school year. You'll be fine.

If you really cannot handle two young kids in your nanny position, please give 2 months notice and find an easier job for you.

Not sure where you are getting the weekly hours from.

45-50 hours a week for kids too young for pre-school or regular school is pretty typical nanny position.

I suggest doing quiet time in the child’s room with the door closed. Or if parents are ok, do tv time for 30 mins maybe twice a day while baby is sleeping

She said the 2.5 year old does nap, just not when the infant naps, which is very common.

so then she has one kid awake most hours of the day.

Yes, you will get used to it. The newborn stage is rough and unpredictable but soon you will have the baby on a set schedule that coincides with the toddler’s nap.
