+1 I am a nanny and I agree. I always arrive early because I always have to use the bathroom after my commute. I am ready to start work on time.

Late is late. If a person is supposed to start work at 8AM and arrives at 8:01 she is technically late. Now, no one is that much of a dick to worry about a minute but 5 minutes late is unacceptable.

Disagree. I’ve had several positions for which I had to hit the ground running. Start time was start time, not time to chitchat, use the bathroom, or make myself something to eat/drink. I was on time because I was doing all of that 5-15 minutes prior, that way I was ready to either wake the kids or do hand off.
