It always depends on if you have the skills the parents want. |
| Lots of people with the frame on the wall can't do the work. You need a history of success to command the high wages. |
AND and education. |
Your world is very limited. |
And $40,000 in student loan debt. You can have an education without a degree. A bachelors doesn’t mean much anymore because most people have them. |
Oh honey. The problem is definitely you. I'm in LA and have a masters, and so do three of my nanny friends. Almost all the nannies I know have at least a bachelors degree. Homeschooling isolates you a bit, but the rest is all you. Coldwater canyon park is full of nannies- you can't find some friends there? Music classes, sports, library, there's so many ways to meet nannies in LA. I actually find more nannies here are educated when you're with HP/HNW families. Soooo. It's you. Maybe get off your high horse and people will want to be your friend. |
This is absolutely true. |
The degree alone is not going to cut it. A nanny with 10+years experience AND a relevant degree is going to make top dollar. A nanny with 10+ years experience and an irrelevant degree from an Ivy is going to be next, but a nanny with excellent track record will often get the top job before a nanny with a state school degree in women’s studies or some other unrelated thing. |
My world is the future, PP. High income/high profile families are looking for teachers for their newborns to preschoolers. |
How can the problem be me? I am not repelling the MA nannies on sight. I simply have never met another with an MA and I work for a new high income/high profile family in Brentwood. And I did not complain about not having friends or not liking other nannies - I simply have never met another with an masters. I am surprised you have a graduate degree with your reading comprehension issues. I have bolded my post. All I wrote is that I have never met another nanny with a masters. |
[b] The problem is definitely you. Ps. I'm European and English is my third language. I speak 5. You sound insufferable. |
|
How do you know all these nannies don't have masters degrees? Do you go around with a survey? I have a masters degree and don't wear a sign or bring questionnaires to the park for other nannies. But I also don't have trouble meet educated nannies or making friends- unlike you. Please stop your humble brag and thinking you're so unique with your masters degree. There are many nannies here with masters! Have you ever heard or the agency educated nannies?? Westside nannies?? Come on. LA has a lot of educated nannies, you aren't special. $40/hr is normal for a nanny with a masters degree. You aren't the 1% of nannies. |
[b] Actually you did. You said you felt isolated and was having trouble meeting educated nannies. There must be something off putting about you (which is obvious from just the few posts you've written!) because there's lots of educated nannies in Los Angeles. I'm in Beverly Hills and have zero trouble meeting friends. But that's probably because unlike you, I can speak to people without a masters. Most of my nanny friends however have bachelors and masters degrees and are former teachers. It's you, not us. |
Which institute confers a Madter's degree? I am going to cry a tear and one-half out of each eye for you because I cannot imagine how demeaning it is for someone with a Madter's degree to mingle with the great unwashed. |
She has a Madter's degree. We know this is not a typo because OP is so highly educated she cannot possibly make spelling mistakes. |
