I agree that it’s wrong to group all American MILs in the same category. My MIL is American and has reliably cared for my child’s since she was 3 months old.l, and she is now 2. Now all Americans are lazy and unreliable. Some things can be said about foreign people, but it’s ignorant and unneeded. I’m educated enough to know that you can’t group everyone together. |
Do you know what a "generalization" is, PP? And I didn't read where anyone said Americans are lazy and unreliable! My American mother just retired from her dental practice and loves her time off with my father and her friends as well as volunteering. She already raised her children and has no interest in being a nanny to mine. My foreign-born MIL has never worked out of the house and it is within her culture to care for grandchildren. The PP who made this generalization was insulting no one. Cultures are different. |

It's a generalization that fits many, many American women, but not all. It may be descriptive of most Baby Boomers, but nobody can agree on the years encompassing that era. The widest range stretches for birth dates between 1940 and 1965, and both my mother and grandmother, very distinct women, fit into that age range.
I started typing, but when I realized that I had enough to fit a normal page in Word... There are families who value children, the future and education enough to sacrifice for their own children. There are families who don't value one or more of those, and they won't sacrifice anything for any child. There are individuals (not usually whole families) who value ALL children enough to sacrifice for ANY child. It's not up to anyone else to determine the type of sacrifice someone makes. It's not up to us to tell someone else to care for a child in their family. My family did. My family would now, but it's not possible. There are other families in which the grandparents work harder to pay for someone more patient to care for their grandchildren, while the children's parents put away money for college and pay for all of the other expenses. It's not up to us to decide. Frankly, it has no bearing on ethnicity or country of origin either. |
Omg! Op asked a question. Stop going off topic with your little debates. No one cares. Op, your benefits sounds good but I would bump it up to $25 hour or pay $23 hour for 40 hours a week. You will have a high turnover rate if the pay is too low. |
